About UsWe began to prefer this type of chocolate to all others, and in time were also greatly inspired by the work of David Wolfe. "Naked Chocolate" , by David Wolfe and Shazzie. Their research and work is 'letting the cat outta the bag' about raw chocolate, and a worldwide chocolate revival seems to be in full swing as more each day are discovering this 'food of the gods'.
Our intent and wish in creating Rawthentic Chocolate and this website is to introduce as many people as possible, worldwide, to this amazing and unique food.
We are big proponents of, and only use, fairly traded cacao. Once the subject of mass production and harvesting of cacao is investigated, many in our community (and perhaps yours as well) are demanding fair trade coffee.
Without going into detail on the subject, and as you may be aware, the working conditions on many plantations in the Ivory Coast and elsewhere in Africa and other places in the world are, to be put mildly yet blunly, completely unsustainable and certainly unacceptable to conscious consumers. We are choosing choose organic and fairly traded products because it makes sense, for ourselves, our families, and our neighbors on this planet that we all must share and call home. Rawthentic Chocolate was started with the philosophy that we as humans are all connected and in symbiotic relationship with one another and our planet. We envision a future where conflict is set aside to reveal a peaceful and healing humanity... one we are truly free, know who we are and where we are going, and of course (as long as we exist in this form and on this dimension, we'd like to be eating healthy & organic & raw... you guessed it, chocolate! We'll take ours right off the tree, propose the idea that there truly is plenty to share and go around, and support the idea that these are miraculous times we live in where old paradigms are being replaced by those that fully support all life on Earth or "Gaia". We believe in and put our vote in for Love, for Truth, and of course, for chocolate!
We learned that chocolate in it's raw state (not overly heated and processed) is food, not candy. We began to make chocolate using alternatives to refined cane sugar such as agave nectar, honey, or maple syrup. After some brief growing pains, (and even some recipe ideas appearing in dreams), we began making, eating, and sharing raw chocolate, and at some point decided this was one of the 'body, mind, spirit' components we were looking for. We begain taking our products to the Halifax market in the fall of 2008, followed by Wolfville and Kentville, Nova Scotia. We figured that the world should know about this magical food, so started this website to hopefully introduce many others to Rawthentic Chocolate!
We love raw chocolate! We think everyone should know about it, and decided in mid 2008 to do something about it and started an endeavor which has evolved to "Rawthentic Chocolate." The people, products, and opportunity all fell into place and now we are glad to be offering it to the world, online. We think Rawthentic Chocolate has the potential to become a 'world wide rave', and look forward to watching it grow. We'd love your feedback on our products.
